Android

Android an open source operating system for smartphones, PDAs and mobile handsets designed by Android, a startup acquired by Google, and officially announced November 5, 2007. Other types of devices with this operating system exist, such as televisions and shelves. Android is named after the startup of the same name specializing in the development of mobile applications that Google acquired in August 2005, a name which is itself an "android" that refers to a robot built at the image a human being. The software, which was dubbed by the gPhone rumors of markets, is offered in a free and freely modifiable to mobile phone manufacturers, facilitating its adoption. The gPhone was launched in October 2008 in the United States in an exclusive distribution partnership between Google and T-Mobile. The character named Bugdroid is the small green robot used by Google to make Android. This character is licensed under "Creative Commons by (3.0)" and may be freely used. Engadget site reported that Bugdroid the Android logo is actually a character in a game on the Atari 1990: Gauntlet: The Third Encounter.
